The site is a barrier beach parallel to the coastline as a part of the Mu Ko Phetra National Park. It is formed by an accumulation of sand as the result of longshore current. There is a thicket of mangrove forest between the beach and the coastline. The beach extends from the north around the south of estuary of Khlong Wang Won in Ban Rawai Nuea toward the south until the estuary of Khlong Yan Sue on the opposite side of Ban Tanyong Ra Nai. It is about 3.5 kilometers long. The beach is composed mostly of grey sand with organic debris. Alternation between the thin sand and organic debris sand layers is also observed in some places.
