The geology of the Satun Geopark terrain was a sea floor dating more than 500 million years ago in the Cambrian Period, which was when the sandy sea floor was teeming with various species of strange-looking animals.
Certain creatures resembling today’s horseshoe crabs were called trilobites, the fossils of which on Tarutao Island are evidence that such animals once existed around there.
